有人上门踢馆来了。不应战怎么可以?I dont have time to do proofreading and fix the typos. But read it please.
Dear Ten
Thank you for your note on the facebook. The conversation yesterday, according to my understanding, is quite informative and friendly. You have the right to say what you believe. And you did it. Now it is my turn to defend what I believe.
What was going on in Tibet was NOT a peaceful protest. It is vandalism, violence and above all terrorism by some Tibetians.
“According to The Economist, “The mobs, ranging from small groups of youths (some armed with traditional Tibetan swords) to crowds of many dozens, including women and children, rampaged through the narrow alleys of the Tibetan quarter. They battered the shutters of shops, broke in and seized whatever they could, from hunks of meat to gas canisters and clothing. Some goods they carried away, while other goods were thrown into large fires lit on the street.[2] “Little children could also be seen looting a toyshop…”[5]
The Guardian reported that according to foreign eyewitness accounts, rioters have been attacking Han, Muslim Hui and other ethnic minorities, with the exception of foreigners.[11] It described that with the exception of Tibetan-owned hotels, many other hotels were vandalized and smashed.[11] The eyewitness also reported seeing three rioters stabbing an unconscious man.[11] After the Monday deadline, Chinese police called on loudspeakers that anyone who took part in the violence and gave themselves up would be treated with leniency. [12]
Western tourists emerging from Tibet described the level of the violence occured within the days of the protest. Some Western tourists described that they saw Chinese people being beaten and stoned to death by groups of Tibetans, with supports of crowd; some also claim to see such violence against elderly people.[18][19]
Canadian tourist John Kenwood after coming back from Tibet told The Times about the experience: “It’s hard to pick a side in what happened, I agree that the Tibetans have their own culture, but I can’t agree with what people did. After a while, it was not about Tibetan freedom any more.”[18]–Wikipedia (or check out The Times, or The Economist, or the Guardian)
The issue of Tibet is not only the interest of the government. It is the national interest of China and its people. The word “Chinese” stands for 56 different peoples in the territory of People’s Republic of China. The people in China are diverse. Personally I have many friends from the miniority. We respect each other on religious belief, customs, life styles, etc. As an international student in US, I read extensively on both sides. So don’t accuse me of being brainwashed by “communist propaganda”. Even if I don’t agree with the governent’s policy sometimes, I am loyal to my country. Go ask any anti-Bush American if he or she will support a free Texas Republic. Of course the answer is negative. Are they brainwashed by the US government or the US media to love their country? Patriotism is not brainwashing.
Here is an analogy: say a native person gets low paid, not happy with his life. He blames the white of making his life miserable. Now, full of fury, he goes out, beats any white people on the streets to death with stone and sets their houses on fire. And this is exactly what was going on in Tibet in the past several days, or even worse. Should he be kept down by the police or by the army if there is a large group of barbarians? Can you justify this violence action by any human law or any existing religion? Or by your religion led by your “peace-loving” spiritual leader Dalai Lama who received US$1.7 million a year in the 1960s from the U.S. Government through the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and trained terrorists to attack China including the territory of Tibet(cite from Wiki)? If so, I am sadly to find out “free tibet” is such a great irony. And Dalai Lama is not a pacifist at all. Isn’t he more like an eastern Bin Laden? I am not going to cite Dalai’s infamous theocratic ruling before 1950 since you don’t bother to read history.
I love my country and won’t never let anyone sunder it apart. I am sure 99.9% of the whole Chinese people hold the same view.An integrated China is my belief. This is my “religion” as you have your own religion. And I am ready to defend it anywhere at any time till the end of my life. I won’t sit in front of Kline dining hall and cry like a coward for some cheap pity, after I left. I am not afraid of someone questioning my belief because there is nothing I could feel shame of. Therefore I strongly doubt whether you can defend your cause or whether your belief is well-grounded. The claim becomes especially suspicious when the person is carrying a US passport, NOT a passport issued by a government still IN EXILE, a self-claimed government that has no territory (I believer the Indian government wouldn’t like to lend their lands to such a government permanently), a government whose legitimacy is not recognized by any independent country on this planet.
Not even a single one.
Are we clear now?
