sometimes it is good to be the last

this is a reminder for myself that I will post something long here and edit all the photos during my trip after I go back home. I was the last graduate on the commencement this year and sometimes it is good to be the last after everyone else.

senior project

I am so pleased my project gets an A. I am so amused that I survived it. I thought it was something really difficult to do in my freshman year and the whole distribution requirement somehow insane. If I could get myself one year ago to read this finished project, I wouldn’t understand anything of my project. I couldn’t even believe I wrote the following abstract and the whole paper in such a professional and complicated science language.

“Vertex connectivities in complex networks are widely recognized to display a scale-free power-law distribution generated by network growth and node preferential attachment. Observation of the power-law distribution of tie weights together with the over-representation of network motifs in social networks suggests the existence of non-trivial network mechanisms beyond node level. This pro ject investigates the existing social network theories and proposes a stochastic model for weighted scale-free networks in which high-weight ties are more likely to grow using random walk as an approach. The model reproduces the observed scale-free weight distributions from a pure dyad perspective and concavity of the distribution curve as the consequence of triad embeddedness. Computer simulations of both processes confirm the theoretical predictions with the statistical analysis of a communication network among millions of individuals. This pro ject, as part of an ongoing NSF-funded social network study, contributes to the dynamic analysis of processes of tie formation, stability and change at the dyad and triad level and leads to a systematic understanding of the fundamental processes and interdependencies underlying social network dynamics that has deep implications in large-scale human interaction behavior.”

LA 到detriot机票总共花了1250刀，因为要在日本停四天，要多交航空公司一堆额外的fee，本来不停只要1000刀，不过总比单独走日本省了很多。 其实分开订美国到日本和日本到上海的来回票估计便宜一百到两百刀，只是不知道哪里可以买日本到上海的往返。回上海还要花30刀办日本过境visa。（日本 到现在还不能办大陆居民自由行的签证，台湾居民30天免签证，赤果果的歧视啊）

今天刚发现西北和delta七月后国际航班第二件托运行李要多交50刀，经济危机这世道，航空公司想钱想疯了，以后估计要按体重来收费了，可怜我skyteam账户里积了那么多里程。

现在有一个寒假tentative的计划，征人，12/20-1/6，两个多星期去墨西哥和古巴，预算1200－1500刀。

审美观

刚看了鲁豫有约采访郭敬明的那集，omg，四条仙鹤腿，看得我没了食欲。现在国内的审美观好像就是男人要清秀要白要瘦要穿松松的裤子要有长长的额发要像女人，女人要瘦到病态要象充气娃娃要不像人。我的观念都已经彻底被americalize了，我喜欢男人有力量和肌肉，女人有线条和适量肌肉，小麦肤色，穿衣恰当整洁有精神，食欲正常。
